Upper Providence, Middletown township partner in electronics recycling event

You know it has just been sitting in the garage collecting dust. And how many nonfunctioning computers can one person have? Good news for those curious just exactly what to do with these dysfunctional relics.

Upper Providence Township is partnering with Middletown Township for an electronics recycling event on Saturday, April 4, from 9 a.m. to noon. Residents can haul their unwanted electronics to 27 North Pennell Road for recycling.

“Bring your unwanted electronics, including laptops, computers, printers, small appliances, vacuum cleaners, phones, cameras, and more,” said a post from Upper Providence Township’s Facebook page. “We will accept any electronic device with a plug. Please note that smoke detectors and large appliances will not be accepted.”

While most items are free to donate, some may come with a fee. According to the post, fees apply for the following:

  • $30 per TV or computer monitor
  • $100 per projection TV or wooden console TV
  • $10 per air conditioner, microwave, dehumidifier, or dorm-size refrigerator

And for some items, residents will even be granted coverage for that fee.

PECO customers can have the $10 recycling fee covered for qualifying working room air conditioners, dehumidifiers, and mini fridges by bringing their PECO account number or a copy of their bill,” said the post.

Residents of either township may pre-register online here.

“Clear out your old electronics responsibly and keep them out of the landfill!” said the township’s post.
