Plenty of Delco road work through the year’s end

New project

Dec. 17 to Dec. 31: 1 to 6 a.m., a weeknight lane closure on the ramp from U.S. 322 West (Commodore Barry Bridge) to northbound Interstate 95, concrete repair.

Meetinghouse Road bridge

Through Jan. 9: Meetinghouse Road will be closed and detoured 24/7 between Route 491 (Naamans Creek Road) and Chichester Avenue.

Ongoing projects

Ridley Creek Road: through Dec. 19, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., closed weekdays between Rose Tree Road and Hillendale Road in Upper Providence Township, embankment repair.

Creek Road: Through Dec. 24, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays, a lane closure between U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) and Upper Bank Drive, Chadds Ford Township, tree clearing and boardwalk construction.

Route 3 (West Chester Pike): Through Dec. 31, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays, closed weekdays between 69th Street and Chatham Road, Upper Darby Township, PECO work.

Route 3 (West Chester Pike): Through March 6, a lane closure around the clock eastbound between the I-476 South off-ramp and Lawrence Road, Marple and Haverford townships, roadway reconstruction.

Interstate 476 work

Through Dec. 30: 8 p.m. to 5 the following morning, lane closures Sundays through Thursdays in both directions between Interstate 76 and Interstate 95 for bridge repair, pipe replacement and paving.

Conchester Highway

Periodic lane closures on U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway) in both directions between Cherry Tree Road/Bethel Avenue and Route 452 (Market Street) to allow crews to implement a long-term traffic shift.

The traffic shift will reduce U.S. 322 to one lane in each direction to allow PennDOT’s contractor to begin Stage 2 of construction. Stage 2 consists of new roadway and structure construction on the south side of U.S. 322, including the bridge over Route 452 (Market Street).

The existing long-term travel restrictions on U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway), Route 452 (Market Street), and Bethel Avenue will remain in place through 2026 to accommodate roadway widening and improvements.

Clifton Heights Middle School

Through March 2: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Springfield Road will be closed weekdays between Fairview Avenue and Oak Avenue.

Lansdowne Avenue corridor

The safety improvement project on Lansdowne Avenue includes upgrades at the following intersections: Marshall Road, Plumstead Avenue, Essex Avenue, Greenwood Avenue, Stewart Avenue, Baltimore Avenue, Providence Road, Baily Road and Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital.

Completion is expected in spring.

U.S. 1 project

To the end of 2025: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., a weekday lane closure in both directions between the Kennett Oxford Bypass and Greenwood Road for widening and improvements in Kennett and East Marlborough townships.

Governor Printz Boulevard

Governor Printz Boulevard (Route 291): A 24/7 lane closure in each direction between Bartram Avenue/Scott Way and Stevens Drive for bridge replacement. No timetable provided for completion.

Route 420 work

Into summer 2027: One southbound lane of the Route 420 bridge over the Darby Creek to be closed 24/7 as a four-year project to refurbish and replace that span continues.

Dec. 15 through Dec. 19: 7 p.m. to 7 the following morning, a lane closure northbound and southbound between Interstate 95 and Fourth Avenue.

Sellers Avenue bridge

Through summer 2027: the intersection of Ridley and Ward avenues will be closed and detoured 24/7 for reconstruction. During the closure, Ridley Avenue and Ward Avenue motorists will be directed to follow the posted detour routes.

Aqua Pa. work

Palmers Mill Road: Through Dec. 31, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., closed and detoured weekdays between Martins Run and Paxton Hollow Road, Marple Township, Aqua PA construction.

Steel Road: Through March 31, weekdays 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. closed and detoured between Burmont Road and Drexel Avenue in Haverford Township for Aqua Pennsylvania utility construction.

PECO work

College Avenue: through Dec. 31, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., closed weekdays between Darby Road and Coopertown Road, Haverford Township.

Earlington Road: through Dec. 31, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., closed weekdays between DSurrey Lane and Kathmere Road, Haverford Township.
