Kyle Schwarber’s on-base streak snapped at 47 games in Phillies win

Kyle Schwarber’s on-base streak has been snapped at 47 games.

Schwarber went 0-for-4 in a 2-1 Phillies victory over the St. Louis Cardinals Friday afternoon in the first half of a doubleheader. It brought an end to an on-base streak that dated back to last season and was the fourth-longest in franchise history, trailing only Mike Schmidt (56), Chuck Klein (49) and Bobby Abreu (48).

Nonetheless, Schwarber has had a remarkable start in his contract year. Even after an 0-for-4 performance Wednesday afternoon, Schwarber is hitting .261 with 14 home runs, 32 RBIs, 29 walks and a .961 OPS.

He’s expected to DH in the second game of the doubleheader, which is slated to begin at 6:15 p.m. ET. Perhaps he can start a new streak this evening.
