NFL Fines Jalen Hurts Over Cleats, Jordan Brand Says It Will Pay

The NFL fined Jalen Hurts $5,628 this week for a violation of its Uniform and Equipment Rules. Hurts wore one midnight green cleat and one Kelly green cleat against the Steelers on Sunday.

“Specifically, you wore [a] shoe color that was not one of your Constitutional team colors” says a letter from the league to Hurts. “A player may wear shoes that are black, white, or any Constitutional team color, or any combination of black, white and a Constitutional team color.”

The Jordan brand, manufacturer of the cleats, announced Friday that it would pay the fine:

Comically, the NFL hyped up Hurts’ cleats on social media before fining him. (The league later deleted its post.)

All eyes will be Hurts’ feet this Sunday, when the Birds play the Commanders at 1:00 p.m.
