Dust off your best tea party hat: Middletown Library to host annual event
There will be a celebration of tea, art and the Middletown Free Library on Thursday, May 7 at St. John’s Church, 576 Concord Road, Glen Mills.
In addition to tasty tea-time treats, like scones and special sandwiches, Karen Donnelly of Greenhalgh Tea, a certified tea sommelier, will talk about tea.
“This year’s theme is painters,” said Derek Lloyd, library director. Library staff will serve [tea] dressed as various artists. “It’s a good time.”
The Middletown Free Library requests the pleasure of your company for teas, treats, and scones from either 10 a.m. to noon (Seating 1) or 2 to 4 p.m. (Seating 2).
The library has held its high tea fundraiser for about eight years, he said. Popularity has grown so they now offer two seatings.
Celebrate the artwork and creativity of famous artists, while enjoying afternoon high tea with your friends and raising money for the Middletown Free Library. Each table theme will be a different famous artist.
There will be delicious tea sandwiches made by Wayside Market, treats, teas, raffles, and a photo booth at the event. The cost is $45 per person and all proceeds benefit the Middletown Free Library, a nonprofit.
Lloyd said 30 percent of the library’s funds come from fundraising, with Middletown Township contributing 45 percent. They also receive money from some other municipalities, and the state and county.
The tea fundraiser is part of Delco Gives Day, during which all of the nonprofits in the county hold fundraisers, said Lloyd.
