Media Theatre to host tryouts for ‘Lion King Jr.’ on March 9
If your kiddo “Just Can’t Wait to Be King,” or lives more of a “Hakuna Matata” kind of life, chances are they would be a perfect fit for the Media Theatre’s upcoming show for children. And tryouts are just around the corner.
The Media Theatre will host tryouts for “Lion King Jr.” on Monday, March 9 at 5 p.m. for those ages 6 to 13. The final production itself will run from May 9 to 24 as the theatre’s last Youth Ensemble show of the season. The show will feature around 30 students from throughout the county.
According to the theatre’s site, the Youth Ensemble Series “proudly produces four youth or teen edition productions each year, catering to students aged 6 to 18.”
“With casts of up to 30, our lineup includes three shows for children aged 6 to 13 and one teen production for those aged 14 to 18,” said the site. “With our 2025-26 season being bigger and better than ever, we are returning to our structure of casting our Youth Ensemble Shows from our Education Classes. Our classes are designed to complement and elevate our productions. Additionally, these productions offer students the invaluable opportunity to audition, rehearse, and perform in a safe and supportive environment. “
Those selected to participate will be required to pay a production fee.
“Production fees for students enrolled in Media Theatre’s Education Classes will be $50 per production,” said the theatre’s site. “This fee supports essential elements, including props, sets, costumes, and staffing, ensuring a memorable experience for every participant.”
