Suspect, 18, held without bail in connection with June shooting

An 18-year-old Chester man is in custody in connection with the shooting death of a Chester Upland High School student, according to information reported in the Delco Daily News.

Jesse Allen Jr. was arrested on Jan. 16 in the killing of Zaheem Sabree, 17.

Sabree, a football player at Chester Upland High School, was shot June 30 in the 100 block of 24th Street.

Sabree was found about 6:40 p.m. by police and medics who responded to a call for shots fired. He had suffered a gunshot wound to the left side of the head, Chester police said in a news release in August.

Sabree was taken to a hospital and where he died of his injury.

Allen was charged with criminal homicide, first-degree murder, conspiracy, aggravated assault as well as multiple gun charges, police said. He is being held without bail at the George W. Hill Correctional Facility.
