Marple Township’s Monday house fire declared accidental
Firefighters were kept busy Monday morning battling a fire in Marple Township.
Broomall and Newtown companies were called shortly after 7:30 a.m. to an attic fire in the 2900 block of Eastburn Avenue off Media Line Road.
Crews stretched hose lines from hydrants to pumpers then into the home to reach the fire in the attic as additional crews opened up the roof.
Additional units were quickly requested as crews battled flames in the split-level home.
Dannon Voight, Broomall Fire Company assistant chief, said there were no injuries. With temperatures in the teens, icing was an issue, he said.
Units were able to get the upper hand and remained on scene for over two hours.
Voight said the fire was accidental, and a state police fire marshal was on the scene investigating.
