PSP locate suspect in Delco child luring case

State Police have warned Delaware County residents to be on alert after a possible child luring incident last week, and have since located the suspect involved.

According to a release from the Media-based Pennsylvania State Police, the incident occurred on April 14, around 3:30 p.m. Police responded to the area of Sunset View Drive near Serpentine Drive in Glen Mills, Concord Township. Police said that an unknown male driving a blue, hatchback or SUV-style car was involved.

Police said that a Garnet Valley student was waiting for her brother at her bus stop, coming home from school last Tuesday, when a man driving a blue SUV or hatchback car approached her. The man first drove past the teen, later returning to ask “if she was waiting for someone” and if she would want to wait inside his vehicle.

State police said that they had investigators both canvas the area and for any available surveillance footage that “may have captured the incident.” Additionally, PSP has also been searching for a vehicle matching the suspect’s description, interviewing neighbors. The police “continue to stay in contact with school security personnel.”

As of Tuesday, April 21, PSP said that the Media Criminal Investigation Unit was able to identify the vehicle and its operator.

“There is no threat to the community,” said a release from the Media Barracks. “Garnet Valley School District has been notified.”

No information was released about any charges that may or may not have been filed at this time.
