Marple police arrest three after trio attempts to flee, rams police car at Home Depot

An arrest was made on last week by the Marple Township Police Department in the parking lot of the Home Depot after an attempt to flee caused vehicular damages.
According to the Marple Township Police Department’s Crimewatch page, police responded to the area of the Home Depot, located at 700 Reed Road in Broomall, in response to a wanted individual on Tuesday, March 31 around 4:41 p.m. A vehicle owned by a wanted man was parked in its lot, police said.
Police established surveillance of the area and vehicle and “within a short period of time,” three men were seen entering the vehicle, according to the post. Officers attempted to box the vehicle in, however the car reversed into one of the marked patrol cars. The crash caused the vehicle to stop, and police said they approached and detained two of the men in the car, while a third exited the car and fled on foot.
Arrested March 31 were Shawn Flannery Sperry, 37, of Philadelphia, Vincent Joseph Ruffing Jr., 32, of Hatboro, and Brian Joseph Lashley, 36, of Philadelphia.
As the man ran through the parking lot and across Reed Road, he entered a wooded area before pursuing police were able to take the suspect into custody, police said. The three men were arraigned and transported to Delaware County Prison, after all three failed to post bail.
Lashley faces multiple felony charges of retail theft, conspiracy, receiving stolen property, and conspiracy to receive stolen property, as well as misdemeanors for fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, possession of a controlled substance, and evading arrest on foot. He is held on a $55,000 monetary bail. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge David H. Lang on April 16 at 8:30 a.m.
Ruffing is held on $60,000 monetary bail. Ruffing is facing felony charges of retail theft, conspiracy, receiving stolen property, and conspiracy to receive stolen property, as well as misdemeanors for fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge David H. Lang on April 16 at 8:30 a.m.
Sperry is held on $50,000 bail. Sperry is charged with felony counts of retail theft and receiving stolen property, as well as misdemeanors for fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge David H. Lang on April 16 at 9 a.m.
