Santa Claus is coming to town with a parade, block party, and fun run/walk in Media

You’ll still have turkey sandwich leftovers in the refrigerator, but it is nearly time to welcome the next holiday season. And no Christmas would be complete without the man in red. Media Borough will be welcoming in Old St. Nick on Sunday, Nov. 30 with The Santa Parade in his honor.

The Santa Parade, Community Block Party, and Fun Run/Walk will all kick off at 2:30 p.m. and those of all ages are invited to attend a day packed with festivities.

“Celebrate the season with award-winning Mummers, musical acts, dazzling floats, the Philly Phanatic, community groups, plenty of surprises — all leading up to the big moment when Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive,” said the Media Borough’s Facebook page post on Nov. 14.

The parade is preceded by a One-Mile Fun Run/Walk, which follows along the parade route. The entire day is filled with family-friendly events. To get the party started, guests will begin at 4:15 p.m. with “runners dressed in holiday attire.”

Registration begins at 2:30 p.m. during a free Community Block Party. The block party will be held on Veterans Square between State and Baker streets in Media. All participants, no matter their age, are encouraged to dress in their most creative holiday finest. There will be a costume contest, and its winners will ride in a special parade float for all to see their seasonal outfits.

The Block Party will also feature live music by Jimmy Shoe & the Shine, a Gingerbread Bounce & Slide for children, balloon twisting, face painting, hot chocolate, fresh-baked cookies, Philly pretzels, and other delicious goodies for all. Additionally, plenty of free giveaways will be offered to keep the party ging.

The admission “fee” for entry isn’t difficult. Guests are simply asked to bring a donation for the Media Food Bank or an unwrapped gift for Toys for Tots. Visit www.santaparade.media for more information.
